Time: ~ 1 hour
Yield: ~ 100 gummy bears
Need a fun boozy party snack? Maybe just an impressive garnish for your cocktails? Look no further. These gummies are very easy to make and will impress!

Below is a recipe for Old Fashioned flavored gummies. However, you can make this with most other cocktails. Just include 4 oz of cocktail with the 50g sugar and 3 packets of gelatin.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz bourbon
  • 0.5 oz bitters (orange and ango)
  • 0.5 oz water
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 0.75 oz (3 packets) unflavored gelatin

Equipment

  • 1 small saucepan
  • silicon molds
  • spatula
  • whisk

Steps

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the sugar and gelatin so they are well combined.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until combined. I usually mix the rest in a glass or measuring cup and add it all at once while constantly stirring. The gelatin may start clumping up at this point but should smooth out once it heats up.
  3. Heat on medium-low heat while stirring constantly until gelatin and sugar dissolves.
  4. If you want to ensure all the alcohol is kept, use a thermometer to ensure your mixture doesn't get above 90f.
  5. Once dissolved and mixture is smooth, remove from heat and fill your molds. I use an eyedropper that came with the molds to carefully fill them so there's no extra mixture on the molds. This recipe should make about 100 gummy bears.
  6. By the time you're done, the molds will already have started to set and you may even notice your mixture starting to set. Pop those molds in the fridge for 30 minutes to set. They can be left to set overnight as well.
  7. Unmold your gummies and enjoy!
  8. Store in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to snack.

Optionals

  • Experiment with different cocktails.
  • Add some food dye if you want more color. I don't think it's needed for the Old Fashioned version, but may be beneficial for other versions.
  • Use different molds and make whatever shapes you want!
  • If you find these too boozy, just cut the bourbon back and add the same amount of water.
